ICS629H-V1 Digital Soil Moisture Sensor FAQ

Inaccurate Reading

Problem: The sensor displays inaccurate or abnormal soil moisture readings.

Possible Reasons:

  • The sensor probe is touching stones or hard rock soil

  • The sensor is not inserted deep enough into the soil

Solutions:

  1. Check for stones, hard soil clods, or roots around the sensor. Please avoid these obstacles and reinsert the sensor.

  2. Insert the sensor vertically into the soil, ensuring the depth reaches the BEST line marked on the probe.

  3. If the sensor is inserted too loosely, the reading may not be accurate. Press the surrounding soil firmly and reinsert.

No Display on the Screen

Problem: The screen does not light up or shows nothing at all.

Possible Reasons:

  • The battery is low or depleted

Solutions:

  1. Replace with a brand new CR2450 coin battery.

  2. Make sure to insert the battery with the correct polarity (+ side facing up).

  3. If the screen still does not display after battery replacement, please contact our customer support for further assistance.

Can I leave the sensor in the soil for a long time?

Yes. This sensor supports long-term use in soil. However, we recommend removing it periodically to wipe the probe surface, as salt buildup may affect reading accuracy over time.

Is the sensor waterproof?

The probe is waterproof and can be inserted into moist soil. However, please do not submerge the entire unit in water or leave it exposed to heavy rain for extended periods.

Why do I get different readings in different spots?

Soil moisture, compaction, and organic matter content may vary across different locations—this is normal. We recommend testing in multiple spots within the same area and averaging the readings.
